Greenfoot
Greenfoot is a free educational programming environment that makes it easy to build two-dimensional games and simulations in Java. Developed by King’s College London (originally at the University of Kent), it is designed to teach object-oriented programming in a visual, interactive way.
Students write real Java code but see the results immediately on screen as they create “actors” that move around a world — making it an engaging bridge between block-based tools like Scratch and full text-based programming. It is well suited to KS3, GCSE and A-Level Computer Science.
