Come and learn how to deliver programming to your students in a beautiful location at Hampton Court House with Coding at School.
This is a course split into two sections covering the basics of teaching Scratch and Python to secondary school students. It is aimed at teachers who have little to no knowledge of programming and will prepare you to deliver programming to your students in the next school year.
Morning Session: Scratch
The morning will be based around learning how to program using Scratch. We will cover basic programming techniques such as variables, operators, loops and conditional statements.
We will also take a look at the official Scratch SoW and how it is best to deliver the program to your students.
At the end of this session we will show you the best resources available online.
Afternoon Session: Python
The afternoon session will be based around the programming language Python. We will cover variables, conditional statements, iterations, lists and functions.
At the end of the session we will take a look at the three new Computer Science GCSEs on offer from AQA, OCR and Edexcel as well as discussing how Python can be applied to these courses.
Course Instructor: Carl Turland
Carl has been teaching for 10 years and prior to that was a programmer and systems developer for Sky television.
